Gabriel
Gabe Gabriel is a queer South African writer, director, and actor based between Cape Town and Los Angeles. He has penned commissioned feature-length works for Canada’s Fae Pictures and SA’s Nagvlug Films (CAA) and his TV-writing experience spans ‘Sabela Gold’, with Danny Glover’s Louverture Films co-heading current development, ‘Mother City’, under head writer Christiaan Olwagen for MNET, and Yash Raj Films’ ‘Butcher of Benares’ currently in pre-production in India.
In 2021, Gabe’ made his directorial debut with SA’s first gay romcom, ‘No Hiding Here’ (Showmax), and in 2022, his original screenplay ‘Runs in the Family’ was awarded funding from Netflix, the NFVF, and Indigenous Films, and is set for a 2023 release with Gabe being introduced as a lead cast member - his first professional acting role since he came out as trans in 2019.
